Btw, this should also help with the memory use issues people were
discussing with large volume sizes. I haven't looked at the code
carefully enough to be sure, but it looks like a volume is never kept
in memory and the only reason for the memory use scaling so badly with
volume sizes, may have been the I/O buffer issue that this patch
addresses.
