Rhys &/or Gopal,

I see AIX code segments in pnet, but they are light on for version
info. A link in aix_irix_threads.c took me to an AIX 5L 5.2 reference.
A comment in gcconfig.h refers to AIX 3.x.

Do you recall anything more substantial than this about AIX versions
that pnet works under?

That stuff comes from the third-party libgc package, so we don't really know
much about how it works across AIX versions.

Yes that didn't click when I typed it in. I picked those 2 references, but saw others (i.e., support/regex.c and cscc/cpp/ansidecl.h) so thought that there had been some AIX work done in pnet.

Also interested in whether IBM native compilers (VisualAge) were used
or gcc ported to AIX?

(Noted a reference to AIX on //www.dotgnu.org, but a search on
//www.getdotgnu.com for "AIX" yielded no hits.)

Since AIX isn't a highly used OS by the rank and file DotGNU'ers, anyone who has AIX is pretty much on their own. We will of course accept patches to fix
any problems that are found. We just aren't in a position to find them
ourselves or to document all of the versions that it does or does not work
with.

I suppose this is a long-winded way of saying that in the absence of an AIX
volunteer, you just became it. :-)

OK, but I'm still trying to determine if pnet has/hasn't been tried on AIX previously? If it has maybe the particular version used has been forgotten?

If it hasn't the "AIX" reference on //www.dotgnu.org probably should be removed.

Peter Colson.
