Sorry to reply to my own question but the pdf imaging model from the
PDF reference pretty much covered the view part of the question. The
editing part can be easily tackled once i have the view running.
A linked list scene graph seems to be the simplest solution and the
editing part can be handled by document type specific controllers.
Whether they should run as different processes or threads in the
viewer or a combination of both is another issue i can try to solve
later.
