Hi all,

I've released the second "pre" version of Emacs for GNUstep at:

http://kamares.ucsd.edu/~arobert/GNUstep/emacs.html

Highlights:

- now works on OS X (under Cocoa, not GNUstep; tested on a dual G5
w/10.3.. the menu code was causing random instability before)

- improved scrollbar handling

- file icons now obtained from NSWorkspace

- background refresh bug fixed (Alexander Malmberg patch to
  Base library)

- cut/paste from other apps (but not yet transient X selection)
  now working

- lots of small fixes and code cleanups

- there are still many issues to be addressed (see web site) but
it's stable and functional enough for me to use it as my main
Emacs on both OS X and GNUstep (YMMV however..)

Also, it's now partially working under the Art backend. There are
some rendering problems, mainly: 1) some strings are rendered
proportionally even in a fixed-width font; 2) menu updates usually
result in black rectangles on the screen. I'm not sure if the
faults lie with Emacs or GNUstep.. if anyone has any insight here,
please let me know.

It is still necessary to use GNUstep from CVS and in addition apply
a patch to GUI. The patch is a little smaller this time around, and
hopefully will continue in this direction.. ;-)

Thanks to all of you who sent me success stories and encouragements
last time -- they motivated me to continue the work.

-Adrian
