I think GTK+ is a fine toolkit, as well.  However, it has a perfectly
fine object model already and I haven't seen the lack of an OPENSTEP
frontend to it resulting in a dearth of any GTK+ apps.  If, however,
you want to pursue integration, I think the best idea may be simply to
abstract the backend away to _render_ in different toolkits; i.e. an
app  could use self-drawing GNUstep widgets or have everything be
drawn by GTK.  That, of course, opens up a whole 'nother can of worms.
