I am trying to install the release tarballs on Gentoo. I already installed
-make, but -base fails.
at the first attempt I got a "cannot find libgnustep-base" zhen building
autogsdoc.
When I rerun in the same directory to copy-paste the error message here, I
gt:
Linking library libgnustep-base ...
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/hppa-unknown-linux-gnu/3.3.2/../../../../hppa-unknown-linux
-gnu/bin/ld:
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/hppa-unknown-linux-gnu/3.3.2/../../../libcallback.a(misc.o)
: relocation R_PARISC_DPREL21L can not be used when making a shared object;
recompile with -fPIC
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/hppa-unknown-linux-gnu/3.3.2/../../../libcallback.a: could
not read symbols: Bad value
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
seen this, this error:
Making all for tool autogsdoc...
Linking tool autogsdoc ...
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/hppa-unknown-linux-gnu/3.3.2/../../../../hppa-unknown-linux
-gnu/bin/ld: cannot find -lgnustep-base
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
seems obvious.
does it seem as a problem of libcallback badly compiled? or might be the
problem be in -base not being compiled with -PIC.
