Helge, you are the typical example of a advanced unix geek, someone who
knows every twist and wrinkle of his machines.
But don't expect this knowlegde from a novice, that means we should not
make GNUstep more complicated by relying on some more or less obscure
features of special purpose software which is out of our influence (in
this case RPM). GNUstep already depends on too much third party stuff IMHO
one of the reasons that the GNUstep installation process is that
complicated and breaks every once in a while (due to updates of those
external libs).
So I think we should make GNUstep as simple as possible for the end user
(in this case: installation without RPM). Wasn't simplicity one of the
points where OPENSTEP really shined?
