I've messed with this a bit (not in GNUStep), and to me the most
interesting thing is that nested menu items can be reduced to gestures.
You click the mouse, wiggle it in a certain gesture and get the menu
selection you want, potentially without ever seeing a menu on screen.
That just seems useful for small or slow devices.
