If there isn't, using GNU runtime is a waste of resources as Apple runtime is already installed and used. Using GNU runtime would load two environments into RAM at the same time.

AFAIK, Apple swap and library management is smart enough to map a given library only once into RAM, even when used by different apps.


As Apple is willing to put all their changes into the main GNU tree, it would probably be best to merge both entirely.
