You are mistaken. For example, many people read via the Usenet gateway (which
only occasionally works bidirectionally, if at all), or read via the Mailman
or GeoCrawler list archives. People who read discuss-gnustep via other means
often have to use email to post to the list.

The version of mailman used on SourceForge (I'm unsure whether the version on
Savannah does this) does filtering based on implicit destination (mail that is
sent to the list address, but doesn't have the list in its To: or Cc:
headers), and this is something that seems to work quite well for the
QuakeForge mailing lists. We still get some spams that are sent directly to
the list, but that's a rarity.

It would have caught this spam, for example. Note that the To: line has only
<Investors> in its content.

It wouldn't have caught the "Happy Mail" spam, though.
