Reinstalling Ubuntu and then gnuradio worked fine. Too bad I didn't find a way to avoid such a drastic solution.

well I just run ./build-gnuradio -ut release_003_009_007 without success. I tried also ./build-gnuradio alone but it fails as well. 

Should I uninstall gnuradio first. If so, how?

Most likely problem is that you've built GNU Radio against a different
