Memory bandwidth and cache size/speed make a significant difference as well as the "gruntiness" of the CPU.

 

These small systems don't have much in the way of memory "grunt'.

I haven't even tried running anything with a cortex a7. Rejunte, if you've got some time could you run gr-profiler.py -s from https://github.com/osh/gr-benchmark ?
