[Discuss-gnuradio] Can I start threads in a GNU Radio application

I am writing a gnu radio application where I started a thread to read an external socket. It seemed to introduce some odd behaviours such as looping back of signal where I did not expect it.  Is it permissible to start blocking threads in the python part of a gnu radio application?


I am relatively new to gnu radio. If I missed the obvious it would not surprise me.
