[Discuss-gnuradio] alsa device numbering

hey folks im not too familar with the alsa device number scheme or where this info is stored. i think there is a /proc/ that will show me something like this but i cant find it

device 0,0 card a output a
device 0,1 card a input a
etc
etc

i got multiple sound cards in my machine, and the ubuntu 9.10 mixer really dumbs things down
