Hi Bdale and Everyone,

Today I order 100 PCBs for the Reflock II design. I should have them next week
Friday.

The initial plan is to sell bare boards, kit of parts with the CPLD solder down
(and you solder the rest), and assembled and tested.

Naturally, the bare boards will be available for sale first. Then the kit.
Finally assembled and tested. So for those early adopters, you can get started
starting week after next.

I'll give a presentation on Reflock II at the DCC (http://www.tapr.org/dcc) and
the AMSAT Symposium (http://www.amsat.org) and Luis plans to come to the
Microwave Update in October (I will try my best to be there but may have a
family wedding to attend).

More information will be posted to the TAPR web site as soon as I can generate
it. We haven't decided on all the prices as yet.

Bdale, I'd be happy to mail you a prototype if you would like to give it a try
for the EME contest. Let me know.

I'm aware of the Reflock designs, and in fact have some of VE1ALQ's
boards in hand (bare boards only).

Aye, that's the rub. Bob's point about phase noise in the on-chip PLL
being a potential source of problem is a good one. Without digging in
to that, it suggests to me that this might be a better approach and thus
a suitable choice of VCXO is the problem we really need to address.

Meanwhile, I poked Matt for an updated delivery estimate on the USRP L
and S band daughter cards the other day but haven't heard back from him
yet. Does anyone else (Eric?) know enough about the design of those to
share the up/down conversion approach? Is there another oscillator to
tame, a PLL driven by a USRP reference clock, or what?

There's only two months until the first half of the ARRL EME contest,
which I'd love to be on the air for on 1296...

Bdale
