I believe that we've built on Debian, and I suspect the problem is on
your system. I could be wrong, but as far as I know, no one else is
seeing this problem, including on non-Linux systems (Mac OS/X, Sparc).
Can you build any other apps that use automake/autoconf on your system?
Are there any other Debian users on the list?
