When you tested it with your midi controller via jack midi input did you
get a reliable input of notes? (That is, playing quickly, did it pick up
all the notes correctly).
I ask because the (non-interrupt driven) input that I am getting
directly from /dev/midi1 misses notes if I play at all fast - it is not
a practicable system, at least on my machine.
