[DejaGnu] Dejagnu Debug Question

Hi,
I have read that I can debug my
test cases with the integrated debugger.

If I start a test case, then this is going
through a standard Makefile:

gmake mytest

runtest is started with the option --D0. So
if I press C-c for debugging, then the Makefile
is interrupted and I don't see the debugger.

Is there any idea how to start the dejagnu 
debugger in a makefile environment?
