I use Redhat-8.0 for most of my DDD work, so that is a good bet.
I can't promise you that it won't die on you, but if you don't
mind upgrading...

The trouble with the Redhat-7.x series was gcc-2.96, which was never
a real gcc release.  If upgrading is not a simple exercise, then
you can simply fetch gcc-3.3, configure, make bootstrap, make install.
That would be almost as good.

.. Just how big *is* this data which causes the problem?
