Talk to someone over there how you "properly export your DISPLAY environment variable".  For example, on my SuSE Linux system, when I am logged in as super-user in a shell, I have to say

export DISPLAY=localhost:0.0

Subject: Question of using DDD

Hi there,
I am trying to use DDD to help me debug my program but I couldn't.
I am using both unix & linux system of Portland State University
In unix, when I type ddd a.out , it gives me the following error:

208 sirius.cs.pdx.edu> ddd a.out
Error: Can't open display:
Can you tell me what's wrong with that?
What can I do to use DDD?

I already download ddd -3.2.1 tar.gz.
Is it gonna help me to solve my problem above?
If so, how would I install it in unix and / or linux?
Thanks for your help
