Hello!
Whoever has the administrative password to the list should go to
http://mail.gnu.org/mailman/admin/cvs-utils, login there, select "Privacy
Options", find "Must posts have list named in destination" and select
"Yes". This would put most spam on hold.
For even better control (almost 100% protection) find "Restrict posting
privilege to list members" and select "Yes". Posters who are not
subscribers can be added in the field "Addresses of members accepted for
posting".
I do this for mailing lists with more traffic (address@hidden and
address@hidden) and it doesn't take much time to approve or reject
messages that remain on hold, especially after the list of allowed posters
stabilizes.
