-11 is ancient, you want -20 ;-)

I’d have to see what changed between 1.12.13 and 1.12.13a, but this
does sound doable. I’d focus on getting this into Debian first though,
as I don’t have experience with working on a GNU autotools project as
upstream, and getting the release process right.

One other thing I was planning was to take the patchset we currently
have in MirBSD/Debian, split it logically and then commit it on top
of… whatever branch point we’ll choose, on, well, probably Savannah.
This also takes time, but I’d prefer to do that before releasing an
1.12.14 (should I really take the reins); merging patches into the
MirBSD/Debian CVS package is independent of that and quickly done
and a well-established process.

I’d prefer to cut losses here and not do 1.11 any more, although if
someone else wants, we can surely split this responsibility up.
