I've taken up the mantle of MSVC support. Previously, Conrad Pino had
been doing it, and IIRC he was using MSVC5. I don't have MSVC5 (I could
possibly dig up a copy somewhere).

It's a lot easier to support using MSVC6. I needed to fix a problem
converting a supplied path into canonical form, and I could either
implement my own function, or call the Windows shell api function
PathCanonicalize(), which was added when IE4 was released (this means,
by the way, that anyone who is running an ancient installation of
Windows 9x with IE3 or earlier will not be able to run cvs - I assume
that is not likely to be much of a concern).

OK by me.
