Well, at least the behavior would be a bit closer to the docs:

  However, GNU `sleep' accepts arbitrary floating point numbers.

Otherwise, we'd at least have to
  s/arbitrary/non-negative and positive-infinite/.

Still, [-]NaN is never supported - neither direct nor as a result
from "-inf inf".
