If you have the newest development version of chicken (2.621), and compile a program that uses the numbers eggs with "-X numbers", you should get in some cases quote significant performance improvements at the cost of larger code.
Should now (numbers 1.6) work with normal "-R numbers" or "(use numbers)". cheers, felix
