Hi there,

I've only had a chance to take a quick look, but it may be useful to
know that:

a) The Chicken srfi-40 egg is a direct copy of Phil Bewig's most recent
   SRFI 40 reference implementation as posted at
   http://srfi.schemers.org/srfi-40/mail-archive/msg00062.html
   The only difference is that define-macro is used instead of
   syntax-rules.

b) I see the behaviour you report (both cases) also when loading Phil's
   implementation directly into csi -syntax.

c) I also see it when loading his implementation into mzscheme 204.

Maybe it would be a good idea to ask about this on the SRFI 40 list?
