 I have created a new URI egg, uri-generic, which is based on the Haskell
 URI library, uses combinator parsing, and has code that is much more
 readable and follows RFC 3986 more closely. It also passes the resolution
 examples from the RFC and from the Python uri library. Perhaps it could be
 used as a replacement of uri.
