Hello!

That's very interesting. I didn't know that the forward slash character 
was a SHIFT + 7 on your keyboard.

I'm back from a week long trip to central USA, so I will check over the 
code either Monday or Tuesday night. If I come up with any ideas that 
are compatible with both types of keyboards, I will send them to the 
mailing list and append them to bug 8138.
