Please use option -d to display the HTTP headers.
Guessing: Maybe one system uses a proxy ? Or there might be marginal 
differences in the HTTP request headers.

You might also look into the HTML file, maybe you find something that might 
help 
you.

Wget 1.18 here downloads correctly the gzipped archive.
