It does effect a slight speedup in my testing.
A typical timing with MiscXS enabled (7.1)
real 0m5.570s
user 0m5.395s
sys 0m0.168s
A typical timing with MiscXS disabled (7.1):
real 0m5.745s
user 0m5.555s
sys 0m0.181s
That comes out as about a 3% prolongation.
If as I suspect dTHX is slower on MS-Windows then the overhead of calling
these XS functions may swamp the otherwise shorter execution times.
