Yeah, that's much nicer for diffs. I wanted to follow the old code, but
you're right here.

I'm afraid I don't get what you mean -- is there's anything besides
accepting two concatenated streams, like every compressor supported by tar
other than ncompress can do?

-A doesn't seem to allow compression at all, am I missing something?
