OK, I've built the latest gnutar git version and 
«/opt/gnutar/bin/tar -czvf bin.tar.gz bin/» 
«/opt/gnutar/bin/tar -tvf bin.tar.gz» and -xvf all work. Is there anything 
else you're looking for?
