I have been working in a Backup/Restore Application. We create a tarball using this cmd:- sudo /bin/tar -cvpPf -<file names> (there is huge num of files here..)
Recently we have seen, we are seeing "broken pipe" error time and again. After searching around, I did find out few pointers saying as follows:-
- Check version of tar. The version may not support files more than 2GB. My system version says tar (GNU tar) 1.14. Does this version supports files more than 2GB? If not, which version started supporting the files size more than 2 GB?
Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks, Gargi.
