Sergey, what do you think about this patch? There are a number of
folks using Amanda with NetApp devices who are completely stymied by
this bug.

This option would be extremely useful for Amanda, too. We have lots
of users who are backing up removable storage and so on: places where
device numbers change often. I understand your contention that this
should be fixed in the kernel, but until such time as that happens, a
--no-check-device option would be a very effective and non-disruptive
workaround.
