Dear Developers!
I want to make multi-volume archives. But then then the following
errormessages appear with long filenames:
"file name too long to be stored in a GNU multivolume header, truncated"
nevertheless the creation of the archives works;
when i extract the files from the archive into another location, the
following message appears with the problematik filenames (in this
example is "foo" the long filename):
tar: `foo' is possibly continued on this volume: header contains
truncated name
the interesting thing comes now when i compare the original-directories
and the new created directories with
"diff -r <original-directory> <new created directory>"
there is NO difference; so it seems that the backup worked perfect;
so why are these errormessages?
Best Regards from Austria
Mark
