Is this thread still alive, or have we, again :-(, dropped the ball on this?
It seemed to me we were near to reach consensus on the latest patches posted
by Thien-Thi.  And it is a shame that the ChangeLog recommendations are so
out-of-sync with the current usages and best practices.
