shell for "make check"

Hello, RCS maintainers!

When I ran "make check", I had to specify
  TESTS_ENVIRONMENT='PATHPREFIX="$(PATHPREFIX)" bash'
because some test scripts uses new $() notation,
instead of backquotes.
