Thanks. Unfortunately this is not so easy however - G5's don't have a floppy drive (great huh). Although I'll give it a shot trying to create a boot cd or something.

Could you please verify our 1.6.24 or SVN snapshot? Those should have
fixed this problem since on 1.6.24 there's a lot of fixes related to
hfs+
