I think fdisk does a good job of having a 'w' command to commit the changes.

>From my experience: nothing hints to the user that s/he needs
to print the partition table after every operation. The monitor is big enough
to take quite a few commands before the display starts scrolling up and it's
all too easy, after having printed the partition table once, to be lured into
thinking that e.g minor numbers of partitions are still the same after 'rm'.

Prevention being better than cure, I like 'confirm commit' better than 'undo'.
