Another thing:

Parted runs on GNU/Hurd as well as GNU/Linux.

One day, I might even add OSX support, to help test hfs...
In the mean time, I'm accepting patches for porting parted to
other platforms...  I think it should be fairly easy to port Parted
to Windows XP, Mac OSX, FreeBSD, etc.

Since Parted is already portable, the operating system specific
portions of libparted are well-separated from everything else.
See libparted/linux.c and libparted/gnu.c.
