I can understand if parted refuses to create them (though, I argue,
there should be some kind of 'force' flag -- and I'd probably be
willing to do that work if everyone agrees). However, it seems like a
bug that (lib)parted refuses to read them. The UI reacts as shown
below. Libparted errors out at ped_disk_new(), I believe.
>From tests I did the other day, this behaviour seems consistent across
various versions from 1.6.6 though 1.6.19:
graham:~ # sfdisk -N1 -f /dev/sdb
/dev/sdb1 :0 300
graham:~ # sfdisk -N2 -f /dev/sdb
/dev/sdb2 :150 300
graham:~ # fdisk -l /dev/sdb

Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
