This is horrible news. Fundamentally this problem keeps occuring for
years and recently it started to cause major havoc for a lot of people.
I believed it was fixed in 1.6.12.

Andrew yesterday committed a new geometry detection code into the CVS,
could you __PLEASE__ try it out?
Unfortunately I don't know where the current CVS is, it's not listed on
the Parted home page ...
Google says it's at http://savannah.gnu.org/cvs/?group=parted
but no source there ...
I remember something about moving to Debian project's server ...
