Yes.

So the question is, is there a way to see DVD-RAMS as /dev/sdx or not ?
That is handle the drive reading them as a disk device and not as a
cdrom device ?

Also, if you don't enable scsi emulation, and it is a ata device, it
should be possible to see it as /dev/hdx or something such, no ?
