My worry with dd is that it a) takes really long (the hard drive I was 
taking about is about 4% full, so a smarter tool might be better), b) I 
am not familiar with exactly how dd affects block devices and c) if 
there's a small error among the billions of bytes, it might all go to 
hell. Of course, a) is survivable, b) could be cured (RTFM, ne?) and c) 
is a question of experience... which is why I'm posting here.
