  OS:  RedHat Linux 9.0, custom (only m/c specific drivers) compiled 
       kernel 2.4.20-8
  arch: i686
  device on which parted was run: (annotated using output from dmesg)
     /dev/hda: SAMSUNG SV0412H, ATA DISK drive
          hda: 78242976 sectors (40060 MB) w/2048KiB Cache, CHS=4870/255/63, 
UDMA(66)
  partition check by kernel (from dmesg)
     Partition check:
      hda:
      hdb: hdb1 hdb2 hdb3 hdb4 < hdb5 hdb6 >
  user problem for which parted was used: 
      win9* installation has corrupted the partition table linked list.
                data is known to exist on the disk.  possible partition markers
                found.  parted was being tried in "rescue" mode.
  parted version: 1.6.3
  bug message:
      Assertion (geom != NULL) at geom.c:90 in function ped_geometry_destroy()

Using /dev/hda
Information: The operating system thinks the geometry on /dev/hda is
4870/255/63.  Therefore, cylinder 1024 ends at 8032.499M.
