parted resize

Using parted v 1.4.24 for the first time from a ramfloppy boot/root disk
to resize a partition on my hard drive.

parted /dev/hda
print - OK
resize 2 667 8400

"Invalid argument during seek for read on /dev/hda"

cancel

"Assertion (ptr->rec_len > 0) at ext2_inode_relocator.c:149 in function
doblock() failed."

Is this a bug or am I missing something?
