It looks like partition 2 wasn't resized at all (the physical
partition... perhaps the file system though...)

Did you resize from a bootdisk?
Perhaps you resized while it was mounted?
Is it your root?

That isn't a particularly wise thing to do...
I would do the e2fsck -y thing. Perhaps you found a bug in parted,
(or there are other explanations...), but I imagine it's rather
difficult to figure out what happened. But worth a try anyway.
Can you send the output of dumpe2fs on the filesystem? Please
compress it...
