By default, parted gets installed in /usr/local/sbin/parted.  So, type
that... The vast majority of GNU/Linux programs work like this.
(XXX/sbin for things generally run as root, XXX/bin for things run by
normal users, where XXX is /usr/local by default)

Typing "parted" may or may not work, depending on the distribution,
how you logged in, etc.

You might prefer using the Parted bootdisk:

        ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/parted/bootdisk

(I suspect you're wanting to resize your root partition, which you
can't do while you're using it, so use the bootdisk instead...)
