Yep.  The main problem is Parted believes (via Linux) that the
disk is smaller than it really is, and it sees that partitions
are outside the disk.  It therefore assumes that you don't have
an msdos partition table.  (This is necessary, for PC98 support,
unfortunately)

Can you send us /proc/partitions
