I "experimented" some more...
1.  I HIBERNATED W2000, then went to freeBSD and deleted (that is RENAMED)
"pagefile.sys" and "hiberfil.sys".  Then rebooted into w2000... which went
fine... and started up as tho it had NOT been hibernated (ie usual boot
sequence).
2.  I tried a "C:\WINDOWS" boot option for w2000... and this came up with
the usual lost file error.

so.... I guess that it is a matter of educated guessing to find which
"partition" w2000 thinks its system files are in.
